Staunch Greco Industries is proud to be a Melbourne born business. We might be accused of being biased but Melbourne is our favourite city in Australia for a variety of reasons. One significant reason is the historical architecture. It is simply striking and beautiful. We appreciate that old world craftsmanship.

In Melbourne you see a great variety of historical homes and we certainly do love painting and decorating them!

Therefore, it makes sense for us to do an exploration series of the different types of historical homes in Melbourne on our website blog, our Facebook and our Instagram.

Painting Modern Houses in Melbourne :Summary

The advent of the “Modern House” in Australia began after World War 2 and stretched from 1945 to 1970. Modernity in architectural housing denotes simplicity and open planning. The inclusion of bold geometric shapes and little to no ornamentation.
The design emphasises the innovative use of materials and structure. You receive a great deal of more light exposure with large floors.

Exterior:

You will notice flat roofs and wall to wall and floor to ceiling windows. They will be combined with blank walls and small windows. Walls come in geometric shapes. You will occasionally see houses raised above ground via thin columns. Occasional sprinklings of garden walls will be spotted in Modern houses. Often Modern Houses will have no fence at all.

Garden design becomes rather innovative and creative. Native plants and native trees are a key feature of front and back gardens.

Interior:

Common interior features of Modern Houses include small architraves and skirtings in stained or painted wood. Flat plaster walls dominate with minimal ornamentation. Stone, textured wood, or wallpaper can be found on feature walls.
Walls are often panted white or cream. Timber or steel window panes are often painted white. Colours become vibrant in small areas. Accent features will include red or green.
